With 10 city parks, the residents of Sherwood have a range of facilities for their outdoor fun. The parks provide a variety of activities for all ages that include all sports leagues, physical fitness training, after-school care, and summer day camps.
 
  • Austin Lake Park has a paved walking trail, 2 pavilions, a playground, and a picnic area.

  • Fairway Park is in Old Town Sherwood and has a gazebo, playground, picnic area, a pavilion, and an outdoor swimming pool.

  • Lake Cherrywood Park includes a lake stocked with fish, a fishing pier, a basketball court, a gazebo, a playground, picnic area.

  • Pickthorne Park includes a pavilion, walking trail, basketball court, playground, and picnic area.

  • Storer Park includes a quarter-mile paved walking trail, basketball court, and swing set.

  • Thornhill Park includes a gazebo, picnic area, half-mile walking trail, vintage Union Pacific caboose, and outdoor swimming pool.

  • Verona Park includes a gazebo, picnic area, playground, and basketball court.

Senior Citizens Center

Any senior citizens of Sherwood over the age of 50 can enjoy the benefits that the Jack Evans Senior Citizens Center has to offer. The center has a lot of daily programs for the seniors to enjoy. The center also has regularly scheduled events.
 
The center also offers free transportation for the personal and medical needs of seniors in our community who are not able to drive. This includes a handicapped accessible vehicle with a wheelchair lift.
 

Schools

Sherwood has the benefit of being within a half-hour of opportunities to further education and improve job skills. The public schools are part of the Pulaski County School District. Within Sherwood, there are excellent private schools, including Abundant Life Schools and Central Arkansas Christian Schools. The students of Sherwood may also apply to one of the six magnet schools. There are four Magnet Elementary Schools, 1 Junior High Magnet School, and 1 Senior High Magnet School.
 

After-School Care

Sherwood offers after-school care for students attending Sherwood public schools in 1st grade through 5th grade, for children aged 6 through 14 years old. This program assists the children in completing their homework assignments with tutors available. The program also offers organized indoor and outdoor recreational activities.
